A 8,728 sq ft modular facility was delivered to Southwest Manitoba to offer nearby refuge and culturally appropriate healing programs for women, children, and surrounding communities affected by violence.

This emergency shelter project in a community located in Southwest Manitoba will allow women and children looking to get out of abusive situations a place to seek refuge without having to travel far distances to get help. Multiple surrounding communities will also have access to the shelter and culturally appropriate healing programs for families trying to overcome violence or other situations that disrupt the well-being of the family and home.
The 8,728 square foot Women’s Shelter features multiple living quarters, a large common room, a cultural room, a childcare/playroom, a full kitchen and dining area, and multiple offices. The name “Migiziwazison” means bald eagle’s nest, which is featured in the vibrant mural in the north corridor.
